OPINIONS AND BEHAVIORS OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS TOWARDS FINANCIAL LITERACY SKILLS

skills. The study was designed using the basic qualitative research design, one of the qualitative research methods. The study group consists of a total of 160 secondary school students, 80 female and 80 male, studying in private and state secondary schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in the city center of Afyonkarahisar. The financial literacy skill opinion form developed by the researchers was used as the data collection tool. The obtained data was analyzed with descriptive analysis, tables containing themes and codes were created and presented with their frequencies. In the presentation of the findings, direct quotes were made from the opinions of secondary school students, and the results were interpreted based on these opinions. Secondary school students explained that the economic developments experienced caused changes in their lifestyles and spending habits through price increases and savings behaviors from their daily lives. Students who considered themselves as conscious consumers supported their conscious consumer behaviors with examples of waste, savings, and behaviors they paid attention to during the shopping process. The majority of the students explained that they were sensitive about waste and savings and that they gave importance to recycling with examples from their lives.

Bu araştırmada ortaokul öğrencilerinin finansal okuryazarlık becerisine yönelik görüş ve davranışlarının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden temel nitel araştırma deseninde tasarlanmıştır. Çalışma grubu Afyonkarahisar il merkezinde bulunan Millî Eğitim Bakanlığına bağlı özel ve devlet ortaokullarında okumakta olan 80 kadın, 80 erkek olmak üzere toplam 160 ortaokul öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen finansal okuryazarlık becerisi görüş formu kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler betimsel analizle çözümlenmiş, tema ve kodları içeren tablolar oluşturularak frekanslarıyla birlikte sunulmuştur. Bulguların sunumunda ortaokul öğrencilerinin görüşlerinden doğrudan alıntılar yapılmış, bu görüşlerden hareketle sonuçlar yorumlanmıştır. Ortaokul öğrencileri; yaşanan ekonomik gelişmelerin hayat tarzları ve para harcama alışkanlıklarında değişiklik oluşturduğunu güncel yaşamlarından fiyat artışları ve tasarruf davranışları üzerinden açıklamışlardır. Kendilerini bilinçli tüketici olarak değerlendiren öğrenciler bilinçli tüketici davranışlarını; israf, tasarruf, alışveriş sürecinde dikkat ettikleri davranış örnekleri ile desteklemişlerdir. Öğrencilerin büyük bir kısmı israf, tasarruf konusunda duyarlı olduklarını ve geri dönüşüme önem verdiklerini yaşamdan örneklerle açıklamışlardır.
