Değişen Aile Örüntülerinde İşlevlerin Dönüşümü ve Farklılaşması Üzerine

Abstract

Aile; hemen her toplum, kültür ve coğrafyada toplumsal yapı ve ilişkilerin önemli kurumlarından biridir. Son birkaç yüzyılda sanayileşme, kentleşme, modernleşme ve teknoloji devrimi gibi makro değişimlere rağmen varlığını sürdürmeye devam eden aile; gelenekselden çekirdek aileye, kır ailesinden kent ailesine, üretici aileden tüketici aileye dönüşmüş ve üyeler arasındaki roller de değişime uğramıştır. Dinamik, değişimlere açık ve uyum sağlayan yapısı ile ailenin yerine getirdiği toplumsal ihtiyaçlar da bu süreçten etkilenerek dönüşmüştür. Bahsi geçen makro gelişmeler, ailenin yerine getirdiği bazı işlevlere daha çok ihtiyaç duyulmasına neden olduğu gibi bazılarını da atıl bırakmıştır. Üreme gibi değişmeyen işlevler aile tarafından sürdürülmeye devam ederken bakım verme, koruma, eğitim alma gibi işlevlere modern kurumlarda eşlik etmiş ve iletişim araçlarının etkisiyle çocuğun toplumsallaşması farklı bir boyut kazanmıştır. Bu durum aile içinde kadın ve erkeğin rollerini de tartışmaya açmıştır. Bu araştırma yapısal-işlevselci perspektif bağlamında ailenin işlevlerini tartışarak, geleneksel dönemden modern döneme, oradan günümüze değin aile örüntülerindeki farklılaşmanın ailenin işlevlerine olan etkisini literatür tarama yöntemi kullanılarak tartışmayı amaçlamaktadır.

The family is one of the most significant institutions of social structure and relations in almost every society, culture, and geography. Despite macro-level transformations such as industrialization, urbanization, modernization, and the technological revolution over the past few centuries, the family has continued to exist; it has transformed from extended to nuclear, from rural to urban, from productive to consumer-oriented, and the roles among its members have also undergone change. With its dynamic, adaptive, and change-oriented structure, the social needs fulfilled by the family have also been reshaped throughout this process. The aforementioned macro developments have both increased the necessity of certain family functions while rendering others obsolete. While immutable functions such as reproduction continue to be sustained by the family, functions such as caregiving, protection, and education have been shared with modern institutions, and the socialization of the child has acquired a new dimension under the influence of mass communication tools. This situation has also brought the roles of men and women within the family into discussion. Within the framework of the structural-functionalist perspective, this study aims to discuss the functions of the family by employing a literature review method, focusing on how the differentiation of family patterns from the traditional to the modern era and into the present has influenced family functions.
