Abstract

Central Vein Catheters, when used properly according to the indications, can be very useful and they may even save lives. However, they may have complications leading to a life threatening situation as well. Therefore, the catheters' placement and their usage are very important. It has been shown in several different literatures that the Central Vein Catheters, while being utilized can be misplaced without any clinical complications up to 43% rate. In order to stay away from Central Vein Catheter complications, during the procedure one should pay the out most attention and the procedure should be performed by experienced personnel. After the procedure, at least a AP/ Chest X-ray or further investigation should be performed to be sure of the position of the catheter and correct any misplaced catheters.
